2 Kings Chapter 3
Synopsis: Three Kings, namely Joram of Israel, Jehosaphat of Judah, and the King of Edom set off to fight King Mesha of Moab. This kicks off because King Mesha, thinking Israel is vulnerable with a new King, decides to not pay their taxes (tribute). The three Kings travel through Edom toward Moab but, after what seems like a poorly organized mobilization, they decide to ask God what is going on and going to happen? Enter Elisha who, mainly because of Jehosaphat, agrees and tells them that the valley they are in will be filled with pools of water. The next day it is, and the Moab’s see the reflections of the water and mistake it for pools of blood and thus think that the three Kings have turned on each other and fought. But they are mistaken, the three Kings attack Moab and ruin it. The king of Moab offers to sacrifice his firstborn son which I think appeased God and chases Israel away back to their own land.
