Rucking The Ruins

2 Kings Chapter 5

Synopsis: Meet Naaman. Described as a great man and highly regarded albeit only by other men. Naaman has leprosy. His righteousness is very questionable. First, he has a captured slave. Second, he is too prideful to 1) visit a prophet and instead goes straight to the King, and 2) won’t wash himself in a “dirty” river which isn’t as good as the ones back home. He had hoped to be tasked with a more high profile, great thing that would likely bring him praise from other men. He eventually does the wash in the river and is healed. Enter Gehazi. Gehazi tries to profit off of Naaman’s Godly encounter. Gehazi gets punished for this by taking Naaman’s leprosy.
